With today's emphasis on the search for clean energy, cryogenic components are finding more demand than ever as many experts believe liquid hydrogen to be the fuel of the future. While the switch to hydrogen as a fuel source seems like a daunting task, there are many benefits proving it a worthwhile endeavor.
Hydrogen liquifies at -253 Celsius and has an energy density 20 MJ/kg which is approximately three times the energy content of gasoline. With a higher energy density, liquid hydrogen can store a large amount of energy in smaller volumes compared to traditional fossil fuels. Hydrogen energy would also play a large role in reducing greenhouse gas emission, as its only byproducts are water vapor and heat, making it not only more efficient but a clean, renewable alternative to traditional fossil fuels. The biggest obstacle today is creating the infrastructure for a hydrogen sustained economy.
