ASME Code Welding

U Stamp - R Stamp - ASME Section VIII - ASME B31.3 Piping

We are an ASME code shop that carries both a "U" and "R" stamp that allows us to both fabricate and repair ASME code pressure vessels.  All of our welders are certified to the ASME section VIII boiler and pressure vessel code.  We have in-house CWI inspection staff that review and approve all welds according to ASME code requirements.  

​ASME code welding is a large part of what we do here at Meyer Tool.  We maintain welder qualification logs and weld procedure documentation.  Our welders are trained on how to maintain material trace-ability through weld maps and heat logs.  We are familiar with ASME code welding standards and together with our engineering staff we are ready to help you design and fabricate your next ASME code pressure vessel project.

Heat Log (Material Trace-ability)

All material used on ASME code vessels must maintain traceability back to the originating material heat. We use red tags on all parts to identify material as being ASME code material. We also scribe heat numbers on all ASME code components to maintain heat # trace-ability up until the time that components are welded together. Our weld staff is trained to always check the heat log before welding on any ASME code project to ensure that the correct material is being used.

Weld Map (Welder Certification And Trace-ability)

The ASME code requires that welders are certified to specific weld procedures used to fabricate the ASME code vessel. Welder certifications must be documented and maintained. A weld map must be generated that shows which welder performed each weld on an ASME code vessel. The weld map is a way of ensuring that only certified welders are performing the fabrication work.

Weld Procedure Qualification

We have a deep catalog of existing weld procedures that cover a wide variety of different welding, brazing, and soldering applications. We are also fully capable of developing new weld procedures depending on the required application. The ASME code requires that all weld procedures used during the fabrication of a pressure vessel are documented and that they are strictly followed by certified welding staff.
