Mechanic / Assembly Technician


Mechanics and Assembly Technicians needed to join our growing team. The Meyer Tool job shop creates one-of-a kind or short-run components so a mechanically inclined, ambitious candidate will gain lots of diverse experience.

Senior Assembly Test Technician job description:
  • Collaborate with customers, project engineers and shop leadership team to solve challenges unique to cryogenic, vacuum and pressure components.
  • Develop and implement assembly and test plans that ultimately ensure product quality.  
  • Lead, assemble and test components, troubleshoot processes, operate with mechanical aptitude.  
  • Critical thinking skills are required.  
  • Leak tight welded vessels are a core competence; Senior Technicians perform helium leak testing to 10 -10 std-cc/sec. 
 
Test:
  • Demonstrated ability to perform vacuum testing including Helium Mass Spectrometer Leak Testing, Pneumatic Pressure Test and Hydrostatic Testing.
  • Perform Electrical Testing, High & Low voltage and other non-destructive testing (NDT).
 
Fabrication and Assembly:
  • Set up and troubleshoot assembly and fit up. 
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly and testing for various complex and unique components.
  • Solder mechanical components.
  • Expert in general assembly tasks including mechanical polishing, deburring, tapping, cleaning, grinding, stamping, pressure washing, precision cleaning, material handling and packaging.
  • Develop and document best practices.
 
Leadership:
  • Lead complex jobs through the department, interfacing with other shop areas.
  • Train others. Exhibit a willingness and ability to mentor less experienced employees in above skills.
  • Advise customers, the shop leadership team, & project engineers to develop best practices and plans. 
 Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years technician experience with Leak Test competence required.
  • Education preferred: Associates degree or equivalent with advanced mathematics.  An Engineering or Engineering Technology Degree a plus.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints and have knowledge of GD&T.
  • Desire to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment in an Assembly/Test role.
  • Demonstrated mechanical, technical and electrical proficiency.
  • Ability to work from written and verbal instructions required.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and twist, walk or stand continuously through an 8-hour shift and lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to fluently communicate, read and write in the English language.
