Cryogenics, Not the Only Thing Keeping Us Cool This Summer
Just as the sun began to peak on a hot afternoon during a recent summer heat wave, Meyer Tool employees were called to the east end of the building. To their surprise, there was an old-fashioned ice cream truck waiting to take their orders. Employees gathered round with smiles and laughter as they enjoyed Strawberry Shortcakes, SpongeBob Popsicles and a variety of other cold treats.
Despite working with liquid nitrogen that can as reach temperatures as low as -210 degrees Celsius, Ice Cream Day is a much more enjoyable way to beat the summer heat. Kenny Urban, a veteran machinist with over 9 years at Meyer Tool, looks forward to Ice Cream Day every summer. “I love Ice Cream Day. During these hot summers it’s the perfect way to cool off, and being a surprise makes it even better.” |
At Meyer Tool, we know we can’t do it alone; we need the help of our expert-employees to continue building the impossible for prestigious customers who change the world with their scientific research and cutting-edge products. Our core value, “our strength is in our people” represents how much we value our team. It’s important to facilitate a friendly, fun and supportive culture as they work through the types of challenges often seen in prototype development. To cultivate that type of enviornment, hosting an ice cream truck isn’t the only thing we do; every year we host employee picnics, summer barbecues, holiday parties and bring your kids to work day.
Being a family owned and operated business, we cherish building relationships with our partners and employees. We realize the importance of days like these in bringing our family closer together. During a time when employees switch jobs more than ever before, Meyer Tool is proud to be the type of company where employees can enjoy growing their knowledge and career. Having employees at 10, 20, and 30 years of service isn’t just a goal of ours, but something we have accomplished. We truly are a learning organization where employees can be challenged for a lifetime solving various complex fabrication issues, and enjoy the sense of fulfillment that accompanies seeing these designs come to life.
