Applied Superconductivity Conference 2014 and Cryogenic Society of America's 50th Anniversary
August 28, 2014
The 2014 Applied Superconductivity Conference (ASC) was held between August 10th and 15thin Charlotte, North Carolina. Ed Bonnema, Meyer Tool VP of Operations, attended the conference on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 12th and 13th. Meyer Tool has not exhibited at this conference but we have attended two of the last three previous conferences. Attending the conference without exhibiting gives us the opportunity to meet with customers and associates without the full week commitment of exhibiting. Another reason for attending this year’s ASC was that it coincided with the Cryogenic Society of America’s (CSA) 50th Anniversary and the celebration party hosted by Laurie and Werner Huget.
The conference was well attended, with a heavy international presence. Especially nice to see were the strong poster sessions. The CSA celebration was held at City Q, “Charlotte’s Premier BBQ” restaurant. CSA corporate and individual members attended. The conversation, beverages, and food were all fantastic. This was not surprising as it was planned by the Hugets, who have guided the Society flawlessly for decades. As his term comes to an end, Ed Bonnema would like to thank CSA for allowing him the opportunity to have served on the Board of Directors. Also congratulations to the incoming officers and directors, including Meyer Tool’s President, Eileen Cunningham. |
